Making the move south after stints with both Auckland teams, rangy in-circle defender Kate Burley settled seamlessly into her new home and will return to the Steel for a second season in 2023. In search of more game time, Burley featured consistently and effectively in the Steel line-up throughout the 2022 campaign. Playing both in-circle positions, Burley continued to build on her game with plenty of court time as she continued to refine her credentials. The willowy and athletic defender added a new dynamic to the Steel defensive end where her quick closing speed, ability to compete strongly in the air and create turnover opportunities were prominent features. A member of the 2022-23 Silver Ferns Development squad, Burley was also part of the 2022 FAST5 Ferns bronze medal-winning team at the FAST5 Netball World Series and is now poised to push on.
