Looking for a new challenge, pocket rocket midcourter Kimiora Poi has stepped out of her comfort zone to join the Steel in 2025, after seven seasons with the Tactix. With her mix of speed and skill, Poi has backed her on-court dynamics with her growing leadership qualities after captaincy roles with the Tactix in recent seasons. Poi was rewarded for a stellar 2024 campaign with a recall to the Silver Ferns squad after an absence of two years. Standing at just 1.69m, a lack of height does nothing to detract from Poi’s silky playmaking skills. A gifted athlete with speed to burn, a healthy dose of flair and precision passing, Poi has revelled at senior level and has now played over 100 national league matches. A World Youth Cup winner with the NZU21 team in 2017, Poi gained further attention with her selection in the Silver Ferns Development Squad, NZA team, World Series title-winning FAST5 Ferns line-up, All Stars team and Silver Ferns in recent years. She gained further experience as a replacement player for the Collingwood Magpies during the 2019 Australian season.
