A permanent injury replacement player for the Steel last season, exciting young midcourter Serina Daunakamakama earns a full contract for the southerners in 2025. The talented young playmaker, who predominantly plays wing attack, showed plenty of promise in her first season of elite level netball after moving from her home of Auckland and the Comets NNL team to fill the void at the Steel. Having a full pre-season with the Steel under her belt and experienced players around her, Daunakamakama’s game is expected to hit new heights. Deft feeding touches combined with speed and a calm demeanour are trademarks of the promising young pivot. A member of the NZ U21 squad, Daunakamakama will be looking for a strong season to cement her spot in New Zealand’s team for the World Youth Cup to be held later in the year.
