Starting last season as a training partner for the Stars, shooter Summer Temu was drafted into the Steel as an injury replacement and jumped at the opportunity of a full contract with the southerners in 2025. Graduating from the strong netball nursery of Mount Albert Grammar School in 2023, Temu’s rise has been rapid. The former NZ Secondary School representative was a shining light for the Comets in the NNL with the teenager also producing impressive cameo performances off the bench for the Stars, including an MVP award. An unflappable temperament combined with nerveless shooting helped the young talent slot seamlessly into the Steel environment where she continued to bely her tender years while a long way from home. Intent on building her game and growing as player, Temu is looking for a strong season to press her claims and secure a spot in the NZ U21 team to contest the World Youth Cup later in the year.
