On the back of a brilliant school career at Hamilton Girls’ High, midcourter Ivari Christie is seemingly destined for a bright netball future. Straight out of school, Christie relocated to Invercargill after being offered a training partner contract with the Steel last season. She has now gained her first full contract at the elite level after being promoted as a replacement for Shannon Saunders, who is expecting her first child. Raw, explosive and fearless, Christie can cover all three midcourt positions and has already made her Steel debut as a replacement player, impressing her team-mates and onlookers in the process. She was awarded a Tania Dalton Foundation Scholarship in 2020 and made the NZ Secondary School squad in 2020 and 2021. Determined and never taking a backward step, Christie is dedicated to her training and learning while also growing her professional habits.
