Appointed the youngest to captain at the elite level in 2021, shooter and foundation player Maia Wilson will be back for a ninth season with the Stars in 2025. A precocious young talent, Wilson was a Silver Fern by the end of her debut season (2016) at just 19 years of age. Blessed with an unflappable temperament, accuracy and strong netballing nous, Wilson has been the Stars anchor at the shooting end since their formation in 2017. With her volume at an all-time high, Wilson topped that statistic last season while also finishing second in the accuracy stakes with an impressive 91.8 percent return. She was a key performer in the NZU21 team’s World Youth Cup title win in 2017. In 2022, Wilson was a member of the Silver Ferns bronze medal-winning team at the Commonwealth Games and the 2023 World Cup team. She also featured in the FAST5 Ferns silver medal-winning team at last years Fast5 Netball World Series.
