Appointed the youngest to captain at the elite level in 2021, shooter and foundation player Maia Wilson will be back for a seventh season with the Stars in 2023. A precocious young talent, Wilson was a Silver Fern by the end of her debut season (2016) at just 19 years of age. Blessed with an unflappable temperament, accuracy and strong netballing nous, Wilson has been the Stars anchor at the shooting end since their formation in 2017. Wilson came of age when playing a standout role in the Silver Ferns winning run at the Nations Cup in England in 2020 and followed up with an equally impressive 2021 Constellation Cup series. She was also a key performer in the NZU21 team’s World Youth Cup title win in 2017. In 2022, Wilson was a member of the Silver Ferns bronze medal-winning team at the Commonwealth Games.
