Leaving her home of nine years, livewire midcourter Sam Winders has ventured south for a new challenge and will line up with the Steel in 2023. Turning out for the Magic during her entire career, Winders will ensure competition for spots in the Steel midcourt will be intense while offering leadership qualities and an abundance of experience. An ever-present bundle of energy, Winders is a driving force both on attack and defence where tenacity, determination and athletic attitude are strong features of her play. With the trademark qualities of a dogged and tenacious wing defence, Winders is also an efficient and effective distributor from centre. She co-captained the FAST5 Ferns to a bronze medal in the 2022 FAST5 Netball World Series while winning the same event in 2016 before going on to make her Silver Ferns debut in 2017. She is a key addition to the Steel mix.
