Stepping up from the Northern Marvels as injury cover last season, impressive shooter Sophia Lafaiali’l didn’t miss a beat, subsequently earning a fulltime Mystics contract for 2026. The former St Kentigern College student and Mystics training partner fitted in seamlessly with her rock-solid performances under the hoop. Blessed with strong ball-handling skills, a solid holding game, nimble movement and terrific scoring accuracy, Lafaiali’l was an instant success despite her limited experience. Surrounded by experience, Lafaiali’l has an unflappable temperament, is a smart operator and with a full season to look forward to, can only be expected to keep building on her credentials.
