Livewire former NZ U21 midcourter Katie Te Ao was elevated to fully contracted status with the Mystics in 2023 and is back for a third season in 2025. The talented Te Ao, who can cover all three midcourt positions, has gained plenty of on-court opportunities after making a seamless transition to the elite level. With her explosive athleticism and competitive nature, Te Ao adds to a formidable Mystics midcourt mix and with a couple of years under her belt now, her ability to impact a game is expected to continue to blossom. A former Magic training partner (2021), Te Ao returned home to Auckland in 2022. Born in New Zealand but raised in Western Australia until Year 12, Te Ao returned to her home town of Tuakau in 2018, completing her secondary school education at St Peter’s, Cambridge in 2019 where her team won the NZSS title.
