Moving to Australia as a child, willowy shooter Martina Salmon has made a swift impact since returning to her country of birth and is thriving in the New Zealand environment. Coming back after a year away from the game, Salmon was originally signed for the Manawa team in the 2024 NNL. With injury depleting their shooting ranks, Salmon was elevated to the Pulse fulltime with instant impact. Making her Pulse debut in Round 6, Salmon has become a mainstay under the hoop through her sharp shooting, aerial skills, sure hands and strong holding game. A former training partner with the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the Australian Super League, Salmon first ventured to New Zealand in 2022 when she was a training partner for the Magic. In the infancy of her career at the elite level, Salmon has provided plenty of evidence of her enormous potential. By Round 10, she had become the only player in the league to post 50-plus goals in a game twice.
