Another to come through the Netball Central pathways, in-circle defender Madi Thomas gains her first elite level contract in 2026 after being a Pulse training partner last season. Playing in the NNL, Thomas was first involved with Manawa as a 15-year-old before a back injury put her career on hold. Returning in 2023, the rangy defender has continued to build on her game and skillset. Strong form in recent years gained her selection in the NZ U21 squad but breaking both arms while playing for Manawa last season curtailed her chances of being picked in New Zealand’s World Youth Cup team. From Manawatu, breaking into the Pulse team is a dream come true for Thomas. Quick on her feet with a long arm reach and ability in the air, Thomas can play both in-circle defensive positions and will be part of a youthful and new-look Pulse defence line in 2026.
