In two short years, willowy shooter Martina Salmon has made a significant splash and will line up for the Stars in 2026. She gained her first full contract last season, playing for the title-winning Tactix. Starting 2024 in the NNL with Central Manawa, Salmon was elevated to the Pulse as a permanent injury replacement and delivered a string of standout performances. Born in Auckland but Brisbane-raised since she was two, the 1.9m shooter came through the Australian system where she went on to make the Australian U21 squad and was a training partner for the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the Australian Super League. Highlighting her pedigree, Salmon was the only shooter in 2024 to post 50-plus goals in a match three times. In a nod to her obvious talent, it has been a rapid rise with Salmon gaining her first international exposure at the 2024 FAST5 World Netball series where she was a star turn for the silver medal-winning FAST5 Ferns. She was also quickly promoted to the New Zealand A and Silver Ferns Development squads. Elevated to the 2025/2026 Silver Ferns squad, Salmon made her international debut in the 2025 Taini Jamison Trophy while also featuring in the Constellation Cup and Silver Ferns Northern Tour.
