Reduced to a spectator’s role following a season-ending injury early last year, rangy in-circle defender Kate Burley is back for the Stars in 2026. After two seasons with the Steel, Burley returned to her home patch in 2024 where she was a key cog on the back of an ever-improving game. Playing both in-circle positions, Burley has continued to build on her defensive abilities through plenty of court time while adding to her credentials. The willowy and athletic defender adds a real dynamic to any defensive end where her quick closing speed, ability to compete strongly in the air and create turnover opportunities are prominent features. Keen to make up for lost time, Burley will be a key component in a mobile and rangy Stars defence line. A member of the 2022-23 Silver Ferns Development squad, Burley’s hard work paid off after being elevated to the 2023-24-25-26 Silver Ferns squad. She was also part of the 2022 FAST5 Ferns bronze medal-winning and 2023 and 2024 silver medal-winning teams at the FAST5 Netball World Series.
