In an historic switch, 1.96m shooter Caitlin Bassett will line up for the Magic in 2021. In a major coup for the Magic, the 100-test Diamond veteran becomes the first current Australian international to play in New Zealand’s ANZ Premiership. Domestically, Bassett has played for the Fever (Perth), Sunshine Coast Lightning and Giants (Sydney) in the Australian domestic competition. The 32-year-old has won two Netball World Cups and one Commonwealth Games. One of the world’s premier shooters, Bassett is a scoring machine from close range and will add invaluable experience and a winning mentality to the Magic’s cause. She has been in the Australian Diamonds squad since 2008, assuming the captaincy in 2017.
