Experienced England defender Ama Agbeze makes a return to the New Zealand league after being called into the Mystics squad as an injury replacement for Michaela Sokolich-Beatson. The lanky back court player, who can seamlessly cover all three defensive positions brings a wealth of experience and versatility with her after a long career with England which included captaining the Roses to the Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2018. A qualified lawyer, Agbeze, now 38, has plied her netball career around the world, including England’s Netball Superleague, the former trans-Tasman league with the Pulse, Australia’s domestic league and New Zealand’s new domestic league with the Stars (2018). An engaging, fun-loving person, Agbeze is married to a New Zealander.
