Looking to refresh and push out of her comfort zone, ever-reliable and hard-working midcourter Claire Kersten made the move to the Magic last season and will be back again in 2023. On the back of regular court time over four defining seasons, Kersten’s game went from strength-to-strength. From being a rock-solid wing defence, Kersten moved into centre in 2018 with impressive results, her attacking game rising to new levels in 2020. Physically and mentally strong, Kersten has a calm demeanour, leads by example through her work ethic, is a potent force on attack and defensively, and a senior leader. Consistently impressing during 2020 earned the hard-working midcourter a recall to the Silver Ferns squad for the first time since 2018. She was also vice-captain of the jubilant FAST5 Ferns World Series-winning team the same year.
