Game changer: Kayla Cullen
At her best, Kayla Cullen is one of the most exciting talents to step foot on a Netball court. Her speed, athleticism, ability to read the play and produce that moment of brilliance is one of the reasons Stars fans will be excited to have her on their team in 2017.
Match winner: Leana de Bruin
When you think of experienced defenders you need look no further than Stars captain Leana de Bruin. De Bruin has found a new lease on life since suiting up for the newest team on the block. Her ability to marshal her troops and keep them focussed when the heat is on, as well as her knack of winning possession when her team needs is why she is touted as the Stars’ match winner.
Player to watch: Afa Rusivakula
Fijian shooter Afa Rusivakula will very quickly become a fan favourite in the ANZ Premiership. Able to play both goal shoot and goal attack, Afa is a patient attacker with a good sense of timing.
What the coach says:
“Fans are going to see tenacious, relentless, exciting Netball for a whole 60 minutes from the Stars. We’re getting there – we’re not quite there yet – but I think they’ll be excited to watch us play,” coach Julie Hoornweg said.
