Mystics finalise team for 2017

The SKYCITY Mystics have confirmed their team for the 2017 ANZ Netball Elite League with the signing of England international Sasha Corbin, and young defenders Michaela Sokolich-Beatson and Brooke Watt.

Corbin has represented England 56 times since making her international debut against Malawi in 2008. She is the sister of English goal attack Kadeen and was named Superleague player of the year in 2013.

SKYCITY Mystics chief executive Julie Paterson said Corbin continued strong links between the Auckland-based franchise and England.

“Sasha brings her international flair to the SKYCITY Mystics which will add considerable experience to the midcourt,” Paterson said.

Sokolich-Beatson, a member of their 2016 team, is also in the Silver Ferns Development Squad and eligible for the NZ U21 team for next year’s Netball World Youth Cup, while Watt was a member of Northern's Beko Netball League side.

""Michaela went from strength to strength when she got court time in the ANZ Championship and was an obvious re-selection for us,"" she said.

""Brooke is another player who made her mark in the Beko Netball League and is ready to take the next step up.”

The SKYCITY Mystics have now confirmed 10 players for the new competition including Maria Tutaia, Anna Harrison, Bailey Mes, Storm Purvis, Elisapeta Toeava, Samon Nathan, Tera-Maria Amani alongside Corbin, Sokolich-Beatson and Watt.
