Match Preview: Silvermoon Tactix v WBOP Magic

Match Preview: Silvermoon Tactix v WBOP Magic

TEAM NEWS:

The Silvermoon Tactix must show their mettle this week after the disappointments of a record-breaking defeat to the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel – on top of a big loss they have the quick turnaround with just four days between games.

Little fell their way against the Steel but again the defensive efforts in the circle were the stand-out and the Tactix also showed they could bring the ball safely down court.

The WBOP Magic have lost two in a row but are far from hitting the panic button with last week’s bonus point keeping them near the top of the points table.

Coach Margaret Forsyth is wary of the long road ahead in the ANZ Premiership and keen to look at different combinations and share the workload.

For captain Casey Kopua those changes mean new connections to adjust to throughout the court.

“It’s just getting that trust and belief in each other,” she said.“We’re working on building that trust.”

She felt the attacking end “gelled” more in their latest outing but wants to see the defence pick up more ball and for the team error rate to be slashed.

WHO TO WATCH:

Alex Macleod-Smith (Magic) – the Magic defender has been sharing her workload between the ANZ Premiership and Beko Netball League.Slots into any of the three defensive roles and could find herself with more game time against a shorter mobile Tactix shooting circle.

Lenize Potgieter (Magic) versus Temalisi Fakahokotau (Tactix) – the Tactix defender was sidelined through injury in Round 1 when these sides met and will be keen to test herself against the South African international.Potgieter remains one of the most prolific and accurate shooters in the league.

Brooke Leaver (Tactix) – the shooter played the full 60 minutes last week and has been one of the improvers for the red-and-blacks over four rounds.Looked comfortable in the goal shooter bib and netted 28 goals from 32 attempts.
