Match Preview (R1) Mystics v Tactix
TEAM NEWS:
The Silvermoon Tactix may have needed an extra six minutes of netball to claim their first ANZ Premiership win of the season, but will no doubt head into this clash with a spring in their step. They came from behind to force extra time against the Northern Stars and pipped them by one goal showing plenty of hunger and drive when it mattered most. They will be up against a SKYCITY Mystics side which produced an indifferent start to their campaign. Blown off the court in the first quarter against the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel, they struggled to get back into the game – although grabbed a morale-boosting fourth quarter victory to finish strongly. Shooting wobbles hurt most for the Mystics and coach Helene Wilson may be tempted to throw a starting bib to youngster Tera-Maria Amani who made the most of her 20 minutes on court against the Steel. The Mystics have plenty of flair up front but will need to lift their shooting accuracy to topple the Tactix.
WHO TO WATCH:
Tera-Maria Amani (Mystics) – the young shooter has perhaps done enough to earn herself a starting spot after showing plenty of poise went coming on in the third quarter in their season opener. Amani was available to her feeders and turned to the post with confidence.
Bailey Mes (Mystics) versus Temalisi Fakahokotau (Tactix) – the two Silver Ferns could go head-to-head in what would be a spectacular aerial battle. It really doesn’t get any tougher for Mes, who is struggling to find her radar in the circle, coming up against a defender who brings plenty of passion to her position.
Kimiora Poi (Tactix) – standing at just 169cm, the Tactix centre is one of the shortest players in the Premiership but used her speed and agility well against the Northern Stars. An exciting match-up with Samon Nathan is expected with both players showing an ability to deliver quality ball on the run.
