Match Preview: Mystics v Tactix

TEAM NEWS:

After an unsettling few weeks for the Silvermoon Tactix, they produced their best performance against the Northern Stars on Super Sunday and were able to earn their first premiership point of the season coming within five goals.

But victory is still elusive and they are up against a SKYCITY Mystics side out to find some form and hungry for the win.

The Mystics have slipped off the pace on the ANZ Premiership points table finding themselves in fourth place – four points behind Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse – and success against the Tactix is a must.

Their shooting circle was again an area of concern with the Silver Ferns duo of Bailey Mes and Maria Tutaia struggling for accuracy at times.

They may take some satisfaction in being the first team this season to keep the Steel to under 70 goals but will be left wondering what a more consistent performance across all four quarters could produce.

The Tactix will also be out to readjust their shooting radar after their defensive unit picked up enough ball against the Stars to give them hopes of a win.

WHO TO WATCH:

Sasha Corbin (Mystics) – the midcourter made an impact at wing attack and she has great links with both Bailey Mes and Maria Tutaia. The English import shows good speed but will be out to cut her turnover rate.

Bailey Mes (Mystics) versus Temalisi Fakahokotau (Tactix) – the Tactix goal keeper was the stand-out last week with a staggering seven deflections and seven intercepts. Her intensity is infectious as she drives the Tactix’ defence efforts, but will have to be wary of the very mobile Mes.

Kadeen Corbin (Tactix) – the English shooter had a tough initiation into the ANZ Premiership but had one of her strongest performances last week.Looked most comfortable at goal shooter where she netted 26 goals from 35 attempts but is still seeking consistency in her game.
