Knee injury rules Walmsley out for Pulse

The casualty ward at Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse has grown with shooter Amelia Walmsley ruled out for several weeks with a knee injury.

Already depleted with the loss of shooter Tiana Metuarau and midcourter Maddy Gordon, Walmsley was making an impressive fist of playing goal attack in recent weeks before taking a tumble in last Sunday’s game against the Tactix.

Slipping on the court, Walmsley’s knee was placed in a compromised position with subsequent scans revealing ligament damage which will rule her out for up to eight weeks.

A key cog in the Pulse attack line, it is a devastating blow for the 20-year-old whose short career has continued to gain momentum over the last couple of years.

“We’re all extremely disappointed for Amelia, who was just growing all the time and performing really well in the new position of goal attack this season,” Pulse coach Anna Andrews-Tasola.

“We’re offering her all the support she needs and look forward to seeing her out there again this season.”

The Pulse meet the Stars in a Round 6 clash in Wellington on Saturday, with live coverage from 4pm on Sky Sport and free to air on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+.
