Talented defender Michaela Sokolich-Beatson will make her eagerly-awaited return to the Mystics in 2022 after an injury-ravaged two seasons. In a cruel twist of fate, Sokolich-Beatson ruptured both Achilles tendons in successive years, consigning her to a sideline role. Sokolich-Beatson was first chosen for the Mystics in 2016 and will be back for a seventh year in 2022, seeking to re-establish her impressive credentials and all-round playing standards. An outstanding athlete, Sokolich-Beatson is a tireless and effective defender on both wings, has a devastating turn of speed and a nose for intercept opportunities. She has developed strong leadership skills after captaining the triumphant NZU21 team to the World Youth Cup title in Botswana in 2017 before going on to make her debut for the Silver Ferns in 2018.
