Tactix re-appoint Hawkins and Delaney-Hoshek for 2017

Netball Mainland is delighted to announce the appointments of Sue Hawkins as Head Coach and Marianne Delaney-Hoshek as Assistant Coach of the Tactix for the 2017 ANZ Netball Elite League.

Netball Mainland CEO Brigit Hearn says that the duo has started to build an enviable coaching combination and is pleased that they will be at helm of the Tactix in 2017.

“Under their stewardship, the 2016 ANZ Championship season was the most successful for the Tactix since 2009,” Hearn said.

“These appointments, along with a wonderful group of players and state-of-the-art support services/personnel operating out of the Apollo/HPSNZ Centre in Christchurch, will I am sure, see the on-going emergence of the Tactix as a force in NZ Netball.”

A shooter in her playing days, Hawkins played 28 Tests for Australia in the 1980’s (including the World Cup-winning team in 1983), and was Netball Australia’s first appointed High Performance Manager in 1999. Taking over the reins of England in 2007, she coached the team to a bronze medal at the 2011 Netball World Cup in Singapore.

“I am highly motivated about my appointment as Head Coach for the Tactix in the ANZ Netball Elite League,” Hawkins said.

“Our Club’s culture and values are strong and we look forward to the new challenges that are thrown at us as a team.

“Unity and cohesion are the keys moving forward and a fresh approach will come with this new competition.

“As Head Coach it is important that we learn from the past however, move forward with energy and vigour and to be a part of this is exciting for me as a Coach.”

Marianne Delaney-Hoshek, a past Canterbury and Wellington Netball player, is a product of the performance development system in New Zealand, having coached at franchise and NZ Secondary Schools levels and was recently announced as the new NZA Head Coach.

“I am excited to build on what we have achieved this year; although we have been better than before, there is room for more growth,” Delaney-Hoshek said.

“I am passionate about the future of the Tactix and building our identity as a Netball nation through the ANZ Netball Elite League.”
