Heffernan awaits scan to determine knee injury
Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel shooter Georgia Heffernan will have a scan this week to confirm the extent of a knee injury suffered on Sunday night.
The 20-year-old landed awkwardly on her right leg during the third quarter of the Round 3 ANZ Premiership match against the Northern Stars and was assisted from the court.
Head coach Reinga Bloxham said regardless of the outcome, the side would continue to put their full support behind helping her recovery.
“Georgia is a hugely talented young player and it’s always upsetting to see injuries no matter what they are. Regardless of what the scan confirms, we know she will come back stronger than ever,” Bloxham said.
Georgia joined her identical sister Kate on a fulltime contract with the Steel this season after being a training partner for the past two years.
