Another multi-talented young athlete to come out of Central Zone, promising in-circle defender Parris Mason makes the leap up to the elite level with the Pulse in 2021. In her first year out of school, the rookie defender has excelled in a number of sports. Originally from Taranaki, Mason represented New Zealand teams in netball, basketball and touch while a Year 10 student at New Plymouth Girls’ High School in 2017. In 2019 and 2020, she attended Manukura school in Palmerston North, earning selection to the NZ Secondary Schools netball team in 2019. She also played for the NZU21 team in last year’s Cadbury Series and was a contracted Pulse training partner. Mason was a 2020 Tania Dalton Foundation Scholarship programme recipient which supports talented young sportswomen.
