After a sudden and dramatic learning curve, talented shooter Kiana Pelasio has gained a fulltime playing contract with the Steel in 2021. A training partner with the Steel last season, the Dunedin-based Pelasio became a permanent injury replacement after the southerners lost two shooters to serious injury during the season. As a result, Pelasio, an exciting prospect and talented sportswoman, retains her spot for this season. Pelasio, who predominantly plays goal attack but can also slot in at wing attack, has represented New Zealand at touch. A crafty player, who reads the game well, has great timing and is adept at creating space for others, Pelasio is primed to build on her exciting credentials after getting an early taster.
