Exciting teenaged shooting prospect Khiarna Williams was promoted to the Magic playing squad after Australian import Georgia Marshall was unable to re-join the team because of COVID-19 restrictions. In her final year at Trident High School in Whakatane, Williams, 17, was a standout in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Beko team in 2019. Highlighting her pedigree, Williams first made the Beko team as a 14-year-old in 2017, the same year as she made the NZSS team. Showing her commitment, Williams has been making the six-hour round trip from Whakatane to Hamilton three times a week as a Magic training partner. She has since made her ANZ Premiership debut. This year, Williams also became a Tania Dalton Foundation recipient, a three-year programme helping young women achieve in sport.
