The Mainland Tactix are leaving no stone unturned in their desire to push for a finals spot in New Zealand’s new elite Netball league – the ANZ Premiership.

A new uniform, a new team and a new leadership group are just some of the changes implemented as they look ahead to their opening match on March 26 against the WBOP Magic – GET TICKETS.

“The feeling in the team is an exciting one – we’ve got Kadeen [Corbin] coming in from England and Brooke [Leaver] and Tem [Fakahokotau] from other teams, so they bring with them different knowledge and ideas,” newly appointed captain Jess Moulds said.

“We’re learning a lot from them and also teaching them a lot about our values especially around family. That’s really important to us – you come into this team and we are one big family.”

The Tactix introduced a new-look leadership group in 2017, featuring Moulds as captain and Anna Thompson and Hayley Saunders as vice-captains. It’s a mix Moulds believes will stand them in good stead.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for me. I’m really proud and passionate about this team and I can’t wait to get back on court,” she said.

“Anna, Hayley and I are really different in terms of personalities, strengths and weaknesses. Anna and I in particular have worked together in the leadership group for a few years now and I feel really privileged to have her guide me in my first year as captain.

“Hayley brings something different to the group too - she’s really honest and drives standards. I know that together we’ll complement each other well and make a great leadership group.”

The Mainland community have always been strong supporters of the Tactix – regularly filling arenas around the region whenever the team comes to play.

“Our hashtag is stronger together – we developed that to incorporate the community because we are one big family,” she said.

“We’re lucky to have such supportive fans and a venue that draws a lot of people. We haven’t necessarily given them the best results in the past, but I think they see the potential in us and really believe, just as we do, that we can take this league out.”

The Mainland Tactix will open their ANZ Premiership campaign against the WBOP Magic as part of a blockbuster Super Sunday featuring all six teams at Claudelands Arena, Hamilton on March 26 – GET TICKETS.
