Magic release Rasmussen for 2018

Grace Rasmussen will be in different colours next year, with the WBOP Magic opting to release her for the 2018 ANZ Premiership.

Coach Margaret Forsyth told NZ Newswire it’s always a challenge managing a roster and staying within the confines of the salary cap.

""It's one of those things in professional sport and it's a big loss for us,"" Forsyth said.

""There are repercussions if you go outside the salary cap like losing competition points and that will be the challenge for every coach.

""It's really important that we retain the anchors of the side but I'm confident we will have a really good team.

“We had a young side in 2017 and there is only one way for them to go so the more experience they have the better they will get.”

The Silver Ferns midcourter has played 132 combined National League matches, including 56 for the Magic.

Magic are yet to announce any signings for 2018.
