Investigation launched into ANZ Premiership match

ANZ Premiership Commissioner Kate Agnew has raised an investigation into the Round 2 match following the suspension and ordering off of Fa’amu Ioane in between the SKYCITY Mystics and Northern Stars.

The match, which was won 60-54 by the Mystics at The Trusts Arena on May 13, saw Stars wing defence Ioane sent from the court in the fourth quarter for the remainder of the game.

Agnew has authorised an investigation into aspects of the game under the Disciplinary section of the ANZ Premiership Competition Rules.

Mark Bailey (former General Manager of the ANZ Championship) will head the investigation.

The investigation will provide a recommendation to the ANZ Premiership Commissioner as to whether or not further action is required, which may include a Judicial Hearing, on any of the Technical Offence and Misconduct items.

Bailey has commenced the process and it is intended the recommendation will be made by the end of this week prior to the start of Round 3 of the ANZ Premiership.

The ANZ Premiership has a wide range disciplinary processes that ensures the integrity of the competition is maintained.
