Fakahokotau adds to formidable Magic defensive unit

The Splice Construction Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are thrilled to announce the signing of defender Temalisi Fakahokotau for the 2021 ANZ Premiership season.

Fakahokotau, who has 22 Silver Ferns Test caps and is currently a member of the Silver Ferns Development Squad, joins the Magic following four seasons with The Good Oil Tactix.

The move north sees her combine with fellow Silver Ferns Development Squad player Erena Mikaere and Georgia Tong, who are both returning for another season.

Head coach Amigene Metcalfe said the trio promises to be one of the strongest defensive units in the competition.

“Temalisi brings outstanding presence, energy and experience to give us a formidable defensive end for 2021,” she said.

“We are really excited to have Erena and Georgia back to build on their successful combination this season and I can’t wait to see them all in action.

The Splice Construction Magic will confirm its 2021 midcourt line-up next Friday.
